Fundraising: Come Dine With Me, book a Table Now!

The next fundraising Supper Club with 25% of profits going to BUILD is due to take place on September 17th 2011.

Featuring 2 delicious courses for only £15. A fun evening in salubrious surroundings is guaranteed.

So here is a little write-up on the last Supper Club evening which was enjoyed by all...

So far most people I invited hadn’t even heard of a supper club, but once they understood the concept they were very enthusiastic. One guest told me she enjoyed it much more than a restaurant as the standard was the same but she felt much more relaxed, while the atmosphere was unique. What a lovely compliment!

I’ve put together some photos to give a feeling of the evening. In fact, the Sunday Mirror sent a photographer from their magazine Homes & Holidays. I don’t know when the Supper Club will feature, but we certainly had to pose for enough photos – not easy while trying to cook for 16 people while my 2 year old son is upstairs suffering badly with a cold and asthma. It is interesting that the photographer said “I don’t know if you are mad or brave”, I think a good mix of both. However, the guests were happy and there was plenty of laughter to be heard. Lots of people stayed late chatting at their tables even after coffee had been cleared away, a sign that everyone enjoyed themselves.

Weekly Prayer Bricks: 25th August 2011, Builders working hard for LRBC

Work is going well, and we need to continue to surround the project with prayer. Please pray for:

Safety on site and for continuing good relations between contractors and LRBC personnel.

Jane Brookes has asked us to pray especially for the site manager, Graham Milne – he and the teams of contractors are working very hard (including Saturday this weekend for some of them) and things still look promising for us to return to the Sanctuary for our worship on Sunday 4th September.

Please pray that they will indeed be able to meet that schedule (i.e. 31st August) so that our team of volunteers will be able to set up the Sanctuary in readiness for the Sunday.

Update week ending 12 August

I have added photo's taken this morning:

- inside roof of the Main Hall which has been sandblasted and reveals the colour and grain of the wood
- Timbers forming the roof of the new entrance
- Inside the sanctuary where the electrical rewire and heater installation is well in hand

Weekly prayer bricks: Friday 5 August

Pray for BUILD – have a walk down Marguerite Drive next time you're in Leigh and be excited to see the new building take shape! Pray for safety on site and for continuing good relations between contractors and LRBC people.

Another reason for coming to the island site would be to drop in to OASIS which will be open all of this month. Why not meet up with friends there while we're not able to meet as a church on Sundays? Or just stop by for a chat with our friendly staff and enjoy a refreshing drink or a 'home cooked' meal.

Open times: Monday 9.30 – 5.00; Tuesday to Friday 9.00 – 5.00; Saturday 9.00 – 4.00.

Real progress this week 5 August 2011

The external steelwork is now going up on Marguerite Drive. This will form the new Welcome area with it's arms open wide to the neighbourhood.

Internally work on the electrics and recessed lighting in the Sanctuary is busily evolving.
