Fundraising: Pre-School Success at the local curry house

A Big Thank You to LRBC Pre-School Staff and Parents who, on Tuesday 19 October, organised an Indian Curry Evening Fundraiser to raise funds towards the BUILD project.

It is estimated that £290.00 was raised on the night from those that attended and those that sent in a donation. This great stuff! All accounts state that great food and fun was had by all.

Indeed there is even talk of organising another event, but this time including Karaoke! We say go for it!

Thank you and well done!

Special Church Meeting: Letters in the post

For members of Leigh Road Baptist Church there is an item of Special Business within the Church Meeting 18th November 2010 regarding BUILD funding. Letters have been sent to every member and we request that you make every effort to attend. We need to show as membership that we are commited to the project and therefore I request that as many church members as possible are present at the meeting.

With Love in Christ

BUILD Bi-Weekly Update: 17 October 2010

This is the third of our (not so) bi-weekly reports regarding the BUILD Project, So, what have we been up to over the last couple of weeks?

  • Collating the feedback we have received from church members and friends regarding the presented funding options. A big thank you to all of you who took the time to respond personally and those of you who discussed the subject in your home groups
  • Last Thursday the Development Team met with Clifford, our Architect, and Roy, our mechanical and electrical consultant, to discuss all things mechanical – in other words how the building is going to be heated and supplied with hot water. If you are interested in the details please do not hesitate to contact Jane.
  • On the same day Clifford and Jane met with staff from Pre-school to discuss the detailed design. The staff were enthusiastic and brimming with all sorts of ideas.
  • This meeting was followed by one with Oliver Brown, David Elcock and Alan Cook to discuss matters audio-visual and re-wiring requirements in the Sanctuary.
  • All this information is being used by our professional design team to develop the detailed design of the project and the preparation of drawings and tender documentation. We are aiming to have all tender information ready by the beginning of December.
  • On Monday evening the Project Board met to discuss and pray about all aspects of the BUILD project.
  • Julie and the fund-raising team have been busy organising the Christmas Fayre. Put it in your diaries now – Saturday 20 November 2010. If you would like a stall at the Fayre please contact Julie on events@lrbc.org.uk
What are we going to be up to in the next couple of weeks?
  • Praying
  • Preparing for the Special Church Meeting on Thursday 4 November. Church members will shortly receive a letter advising of the resolution proposed by the Leadership Team
  • The Development Team will meet with Clifford on Friday 22 October to discuss lighting and finishes. This will be followed by a meeting with our mechanical and electrical consultant to discuss all matters electrical – security, fire alarm, smoke and fire detection systems, lighting and power supplies.
  • Finalising WC provision – if you would like to see the options contact Jane.
Keep on praying at this critical time for the BUILD Project; it’s a fantastic opportunity to build one another’s faith.

Please do not hesitate to contact either Jane or Julie in the Church Office 01702 478698 or jane.brookes@lrbc.org.uk
